Acupuncture in Pasadena, Posted 5/25/09 by Frank D.

The charismatic Dr. Kay is a gentle, kind, and thoughtful doctor, both widely knowledgeable and wise. It is clear that he loves and understands animals, treating them sympathetically. I always inquire about this: he shares his home and life with a dog, two cats, and (his great love) a parrot. Dr. Kay has been treating my beloved red cat Bill for chronic renal failure and other problems. After Bill's appointments, Bill and I both go home cared for and comforted.

The revelation for me at Raymond Avenue came after Dr. Kay suggested that Bill might benefit from acupuncture. I would have been skeptical for myself, but I was willing to suspend my disbelief and try anything that might help Bill.

Bill accepted the little needles grudgingly at first, looking at me as if I'd lost my mind, but the cat- whisperer magic of the doctor's manner calmed him. He sits patiently through the treatment. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that acupuncture gives Bill more energy and alertness. He's a younger, spryer cat when he gets home. I think he even looks forward to his acupuncture appointments: he no longer complains when I take him. He has accepted Dr. Kay as his friend. So will you.

My family and I are very happy to have gotten back in touch with Dr. K and his staff. Since selling his practice in Monrovia a few years ago it's been a bit a of a challenge finding that "right fit" for our brood. But now we can rest easy! Sara remembered Jasper and I the second we walked in the door! We were greeted with a big smile and "welcome back!"

Dr. K practices holistic medicine for animals and some may be skeptical but we are all about using these methods vs. pumping our children full of meds they don't need. One treatment is acupuncture..yes you heard me...acupuncture...we have two dogs with hip dysplasia and this has proven to be a very effective remedy for them. And since Dr. K went back to school he has learned of an even more effective method of the procedure that should have an even longer lasting effect that just the tiny needles!! (which are not painful at all...Jasper slept through his whole session!) :)

It's a smaller facility, not luxurious, but I don't mind that, keeps my cost down! Dr. K is very knowledgeable, patient and caring. I will recommend him to anyone looking for a new Vet!

This is the best pet hospital I have been to in all of Southern California. The staff is friendly and great with the animals, and Dr. Kay is very knowledgeable. I wouldn't trust anybody else with my pets, and the prices are usually lower than the other vets I've been to. But mostly, I keep going back to Raymond because the people there go out of their way to make sure I'm happy.

Every time I have an emergency, I can always count on Dr. Kay and the folks at Raymond Hospital. My dog had gotten sick suddenly and I didn't know what to do. I rushed him to Raymond, and Dr. Kay checked him up and treated him. He stayed overnight, and the next day I picked him up and he was fine again! I'm so grateful to Dr. Kay for being available and taking such good care of my puppy. Whenever I go by the hospital, everybody always asks me how my dog is doing. Great customer service and great vet services!

Hey Raymond Avenue Vet and Associates, thank you all for your deep admiration for animals. My dog Twinkie was sick with God knows what. Luckily, my sis, Christina works there and if it wasn't for her asking me to bring him in, he probably wouldn't have been treated correctly, and i might have had to experience a loss. Also i am grateful for the intel that Dr. Kay had to offer. He suggested what to do, and before i knew it, the very next day Twinkie was up and running again. Rascal and Samantha (my other dogs) are happy to have their buddy back. Thank you once again Raymond Ave. Vet! Thanks sis!

Sincerely; Gabo & Twinkie

Stands Out from the Rest... posted 2/19/09 by Wanie H.

This place stands out from all the other Veterinary hospitals. Aside from the fact that the place is visibly clean, the staff genuinely compassionate about all animals. They're also friendly and efficient. The best thing about this place is that, Dr. Kay gives his full attention and compassion to all his patients as if they're his only patient in the world. Vets from other places give you generalized advice that applies to all animals. He's also good at following up on his patients. He knows how important our pets are to us. Now, that's very refreshing. I've been to other Veterinary hospitals, and believe me, I wouldn't bring my baby anywhere else.

Extremely Knowledgeable - Posted 11/22/08 - Sabrina Di Biagio

Since finding Dr. K and his wonderful staff, I will not take my 3 fur-babies to anyone else. They are extremely compassionate, warm, and genuinely care about the animals they treat, as well as their people! Not only is Dr. K skilled in all facets of western veterinary medicine, he is also extremely skilled in the holistic arts. The wonderful treatment is also affordable, compared with other veterinarians we have been to, which makes me appreciate them even more. You will not find more comprehensive and compassionate care anywhere else.

Dr. K and the fabulous staff at Raymond Avenue Veterinary Hospital are the only ones I will let care for my 3 fur-babies. They are compassionate, warm, and extremely knowledgeable about not only traditional western veterinary medicine, but holistic arts as well. Compared with other places we have been, they are a very affordable, which makes their excellent care even more appreciated.

Thank You Raymond Avenue!!! Posted 11/19/08 - Gabbie S.

I just moved into Pasadena and as stressful as that was, I had something more awful to deal with when my cat snuck out of our new house, and was attacked by a dog, I still hadn't picked a veterinarian but luckily after talking to my new neighbor a couple of days before she informed me of how she loves her veterinary hospital, "Raymond Avenue" , so in a panic I brought my beloved Dracula to Raymond, I had called them to inform them I was on my way and as soon as I pulled into the parking lot I had a receptionist open my car door & run my cat to the back, Dracula had suffered multiple bite wounds and a puncture that was very close to reaching his lung, after about a week of Dracula being hospitalized and having had surgery he was able to come home & I canŐt express my gratitude for the staff at Raymond, they saved Dracula's life & for that I am so grateful. I definitely am going to continue going to Raymond Avenue, the staff is so friendly and knowledgeable and it's nice to know your pets are left with wonderful people, especially to us parents that worry about our beloved pets & them staying with anybody other than ourselves.

Excellent Staff Posted 11/19/08 - By Rachel R.

I highly recommend this hospital to anyone looking for the best care. It was my chihuahua's first visit to a vet and she was very nervous. The staff did a great job making her feel comfortable and the young man who helped the doctor in the room seem to be very great with animals. The place was nicely kept and seemed to be freshly remodeled with good taste. They have a tv and reading material which helps the wait time go by so quick. The doctor was very sincere and knew exactly how to treat my dog. Overall a good experience for us.

SUPERB STAFF! Posted 11/19/08 - By Boxer L.M

I recently obtained a new boxer puppy named "Chela" and she had problems galore! She was skinny, had diarrhea, and giardia to name a few. I searched for a good Vet hospital in Pasadena and compared to any other, Raymond Ave Vet had the lowest prices! This vet office was VERY near my work so I gave them a try. The doctor was very CLEAR and explained the needed tests to ensure a quick recovery! I was pleasantly surprised to find great service and care for my needy puppy. I would definitely recommend this vet to any of my rich friends, the receptionist greet you each time they see you and always look so nice... overall great service and care.

Miraculous Results! Posted 09/23/08 - By Pamela M.

We do animal rescue but each we keep has become a family member. In the past we'd had miraculous results from acupuncture and we needed another miracle at the time. We found much more in Dr. K.! In the past we'd tried many avenues looking for the best care for our cats and dogs....research hospitals, heart specialists, etc. Here we've found the best of both worlds; a blend of holistic care and traditional Western methods. My seriously ill pets seem to have been happy and peaceful for a much longer time without toxic effects from meds than with other modes. We are confident that Dr. K cares about each animal and will do his best to make them comfortable and well while still being realistic and honest. Everyone I've encountered at his clinics have been very caring. Dr. K has moved the clinic during the years we've known him and we've continued to follow his practice...the care is worth the effort!

Great Place!! Posted 08/15/08 - By Janice O.

I would thoroughly recommend Raymond Avenue Veterinary Hospital! My 14 year old Golden Retriever, Abigail, and I wouldn't go to any other doctor or hospital. Dr. "K" is amazing and is always able to hone is on her symptoms and prescribes the right cure. We have been through everything from allergies to cancer and have been treated with both western and homeopathic procedures. The staff is always friendly and efficient and we've been treated like family.

My cats are my kids. posted 7/2/2008 - by Tess R.

I admit it, my cats are my kids. If I had more room, I'd have dogs too, and they'd be my kids too! So when my big gray guy (Tucker) got sick, I was lucky to have the docs at Raymond Ave as my regular vets. Dr. Kay is so nice, and you can tell she truly loves animals. I love the fact that it's always Dr. Kay that I deal with. Even though she has hundreds (more?) of patients, I always feels like she remembers my cats. She evens calls a few days after seeing Tucker, asking how he is doing, how I'm doing (I'm the one who has to force meds down his throat - and it's amazing how many claws and paws a cat can grow when he doesn't want something forced down his throat!), and she also suggested some alternative treatments for his, um, "blockage." I'll spare you the rest of the gory details!

GREAT AND CHEAP. posted 6/21/2007 - by Aubrey T.

They're great and cheap. They're really nice to your babies. The basic diagnosis is somewhere around $35 - $45. Add your shots, drugs, procedures on top. If you need to go to work, you can drop your babies off at 7AM and pick them up before they close at night with no extra fee, even if you just send them there for nail cut for $17 or Rabies for $19, so we the parents can go make money and buy them bones. It's like a day of free care and play. If your doggies need something that can be substituted by buying over the counter (for humans), the vet there tells you what and how much too so you can save on meds. The doctors and nurses are all very loving people.

The only thing is I won't buy dietary supplements there. It's way overpriced. They're sold $20 more than ordering online. But for the general checkups, shots, vets' visits, they're very reliable. I had totally left VCA after I found them. VCA's Vets are not even half as good. Waste of money.

12/4/2007 update: I can't even say how great this place is. My dog was so sick so I took her to Raymond Ave. and Dr. Stewart immediately called me and worked with me to get all other medical records from my ex's vet who shared my dog's custody with me the same day and stayed in the evening to meet me after I got off from work to discuss my dog's situation. She referred my dog's to a certified internist in South Pasadena immediately and prescribed another diet the same night so my dog could eat more and better. My dog got the tests she needs in 2 days and Dr. Stewart even asked the nurse to call me the next week and check up on my dog to make sure she's getting the advanced treatment elsewhere since they are only family vets, not certified internal medicine specialists. I paid them only $68 total for consultation and dog food but I can see how much love they have for the animals. That's pretty impressive.

The nurses sometimes get really confused and aren't the fastest to respond to you but you just have to put up with it and keep calling. They are like chickens with their heads cut off sometimes.

I'm going out of town for X'mas and was running around thinking if it's okay to put my dog in a normal doggy boarding facility. You know those places where they let your dogs to run around cage-free? Since my dog is sick, I don't think it's a good idea. She needs to rest and eat ONLY her prescribed food and no treats, no rigorous play with other dogs and no other food. I called Raymond Ave. Again and their hospital accepts to take my dog for $25 a day including 2 walks a day, cage, giving medication 3 times a day and her own food so I can have a piece of mind.

Geez I'm so pleased with them. When your dog is sick you don't even have an idea how hectic it is to just keep your head above water.

UNBELIEVABLE!! Posted 06/15/08 - By Anonymous

My experience at Raymond Avenue Vet Hospital was spectacular. The people are very caring and helpful. You can tell that they truly love and care for your animal. When DR. KAY took over, the business changed drastically.... Everything is so organized, clean and you feel at home. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SAVING MY KITTY. This is the best vet hospital around.

Will Never Go Anywhere Else Again. Posted 05/31/08 - By Chris S.

To those of you who had a negative experience, I am sorry, but Dr. Kay took over this practice and it is fantastic again. Our dog was so well cared for while boarded, she loved the girl who took care of her, I have never seen my dogs so calm and happy and clean. Dr. Kay's staff is very stellar and this is one place you can trust to do the best for your precious pet.

Wonderful Staff and Vet. Posted 11/15/07 - By A M.

I recently lost my pet to kidney failure which was extremely difficult for me and I found the staff and the Vet (Dr. Schreiber) to be very caring....this Hospital is still a wonderful place to bring your pets because they REALLY do love them and give them great care. Thank you Raymond Ave. Veterinary Hospital!

Really impressed with excellent service!!! Posted 08/02/07 - By Terry G.

My regular vet could not see me today, they referred me to Raymond Vet. When I called they told me they did not have any more appointments for the day. I told them my kitten has had diarrhea for 2 days. They told me to go ahead and come in as soon as possible, because kittens can get dehydrated fast. I am happy to say I found a new vet, Dr. Kay was very informative and everyone was very nice. The receptionist went over the medication with me and made sure I understood all directions before I left the office. Very caring hospital.
